I am going to interview for an intern position at a prestige law firm. I am 5’8” with an hourglass figure and am in my mid twenties. I want to look both professional and fashionable, what do you think is the most appropriate and flattering look for my age and body type?

Dear Andrea:
Most importantly you need to remember that you need to look professional as well as young and feminine. You should invest in a classic navy blue tailored knee length skirt suit which should emphasize the waistline. For the blouse, try a tank top that has a crew neckline in white or off white and accessorize it with a pair of closed toed navy heels and a bold necklace in your favorite color. With this look you will feel confident and fashionable for your profession and age.

Dear Jamileh:
My daughter is getting married at an evening formal wedding this Fall. I am in my mid 50s and have an apple shaped figure. I want to look elegant and be able to wear this dress again at other formal occasions. What are your recommendations?

Dear Dottie:
Remember your daughter’s wedding day is an important day for you as well because she is a part of you, but you don’t want your dresses to compete with one another. I suggest you choose a muted color (for example mauve, midnight blue or emerald green) that has a boatneck and is floor length. The boatneck with emphasize your shoulder causing your waist and hip to look smaller. Make sure the dress is a bit fitted, but comfortable through the waist and has a bit of fullness from the hip down. To make the dress complete, I would add a long shawl that hit at the knee to elongate your body or a swing coat from the same or softer color fabric that hits at the hip in order to create an elegant and feminine shape. Feel free to add your favorite broach or corsage to add some glamour. This type of outfit can be worn or redesigned for another occasion.

Some might ask the question “Why are these pieces so expensive?” Well you are paying for the personal service with your designer (which includes seasonal updates on your already existing custom made wardrobe with small investment for additional pieces), workmanship, originality of design, fit, and materials used in order to create a coordinated wardrobe. Beautiful Fall 2010 colors

The fall colors are beautiful, as you see there are some vibrant colors and some netural colors. Of course this year navy blue and white/gray combination are seen more in Europe.

For Professional attire, the pinstrip navy blue/ white and gray/ white is in demand.
